Canada Community Dance

Community dance is about and involves anybody and everybody. It includes the public, dancers, dance teachers, choreographers, presenters, managers, technicians, publicists, young people, old people, people of all cultures, people of all abilities. It’s about using our creativity and enhancing our creativity through all kinds of dance for all kinds of people.

ArtsBC
ArtsBC was founded in 1979 as the Assembly of BC Arts Councils. Its original purpose was to provide advocacy, leadership and support to community and regional arts councils in the province of BC. Since then ArtsBC has broadened its vision and mandate to support the central role of arts and arts practices in building community and the unique ways in which arts and culture contribute to a strong, healthy society. Over the past three decades, ArtsBC has been involved in many significant events, projects and province-wide changes.
The Banff Centre
The Banff Centre is a globally respected arts, cultural, and educational institution and conference facility located in Banff, Alberta, Canada.
The Banff Centre’s dance programs have become integral to the creative fabric of dance in Canada. Alumni of the Centre’s training programs fill the lists of corps and principal dancers in companies across the country and overseas, and the Centre’s creative and production residencies in dance have brought Canada’s top choreographers, artistic directors, and their companies to Banff’s studios and stages.
Canadian Conference of the Arts
The Canadian Conference of the Arts (CCA) is the national forum for the arts and cultural community in Canada. It provides research, analysis and consultations on public policies affecting the arts and Canadian cultural institutions and industries. The CCA fosters informed public debate on policy issues and seeks to advance the cultural rights of Canadians.
Technology in the Arts
Technology in the Arts is a service of The Center for Arts Management and Technology. It is dedicated to helping nonprofit arts organizations use technology resources and tools effectively.

Society for Canadian Dance Studies
Society for Canadian Dance Studies is a support and advocacy group for anyone who studies or works in the field of Canadian dance studies.
Dance studies encompass a broad range of research areas including history, anthropology, movement analysis, ethnology, creative process, dance education, dance writing and criticism, among others. The Society for Canadian Dance Studies encourages and promotes research and writing in Canadian dance studies, and provides a forum for dance researchers to discuss their work with each other.
Senior Artists’ Research Project
In 2006, a group of artists’ associations and individuals came together in response to the growing awareness that senior Canadian artists are experiencing significant challenges. Before they could develop the programs and services to respond to these challenges, they realized they needed quantitative data. In 2009, they launched the Senior Artists Research Project (SARP), a three-year project which is investigating the circumstances, situation, needs and interests of Canadian senior artists, looking at what services are presently available to them, and examining relevant international models.
